Technology
  • In order to provide the best possible service to its clients, Atlas Printers is committed towards implementing the latest technology available to the industry.
  • Its most recent acquisition has been in the post-production department by acquiring finishing equipment from the Bobst Group of companies. This high performance die cutting, foiling and embossing machinery coupled with carton making machinery puts the company in a strong position to offer a comprehensive service to the industry.
  • State of the art digital printing and finishing machinery complements this acquisition by enabling Atlas Printers to design and manufacture pre-production samples which closely represent the finished product, resulting in high quality, efficiently designed and manufactured packaging and product-launch gift boxes.
  • This, coupled with the company’s existing Heidelberg presses enables Atlas Printers to manufacture up to 2 000 000 A4 colour prints and glue up to 500 000 boxes per 8 hour shift.
  • The company’s presses are ably supported by a world-class pre-press department, which incorporates a Screen digital work-flow solution and computer to plate system. An automated bindery and large warehousing facility puts the company in a position to handle a wide variety of small to large jobs.

Sustainability

The Green Initiative - Carbon Footprint

Atlas Printers is committed to reducing their carbon footprint. In 2018 Atlas Printers embarked on a drive to flush chemical waste and reduce water consumption. Some of the initiatives in place are as follows:

Paper
Paper purchased is sourced only from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited companies. These companies have specifically been chosen because they source their wood from sustainable forests. Waste paper and cardboard generated through the manufacturing process is recycled.

Chemicals
Process-less, chemical free plates have now been implemented. As a result of this, water consumption dropped by 50 000 litres per month and chemical waste has been reduced by over 60%. All aluminium plates used in the printing process are recycled.

Pallets
Spare pallets are recycled into furniture that can be used within the company’s canteens. They are also given out to florists who wish to make use of them in their designs.
